Summary

Every child deserves a happy, healthy childhood. For many children this is not possible without a life-saving organ transplant. The PEACE Fund has worked with the Children's Organ Transplant Association to assist it in its work with these children's families in their financial and emotional struggles. Without financial (and emotional) assistance and support, many families will stumble along the way. With your support The PEACE Fund can assist COTA to help lessen their burden.

Challenge

Vivian Lemire is a 1 year old toddler living in St. Charles, Missouri and has been diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Vivian is in need of a lifesaving kidney transplant. During our past year, COTA began working with more than 150 new patients and their families, while also working with more than 1,000 other families who have been working with us over the prior 25 years.Vivian's story is of just one of these children who needs help at the chance of a full healthy life

Solution

It will help the family cover the medical costs of the transplant and medications to follow. Vivian's parents take Vivian to the hospital 4 days a week for hemodialysis. Each session is 4 hours long with a commute of 40 minutes each way. Vivian is on several medications which change frequently depending on how her body is handling the dialysis. Vivian loves to play with her toys and is starting to talk. She loves to laugh and smile, especially when she hears musc

Long-Term Impact

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. Volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like Vivian Lemire. These funds help take some of the pressure of an already stressful situation.
