Summary
Located in the Ihorombe region, in the rural district of Ranohira Menamaty-Iloto, this project aims to the reforestation of 8000 hect. near Manambolo forests, composed with 3 fragments of dry forest
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Concerned with the conservation of their "forest capital" and facing the recrudescence of the illegal traffic of precious wood and the slash and burn agriculture practice in Madagascar, the community in Manabolo called upon us for its management, its protection and its restoration.
After presenting our project to the village elders, they have expressed their interest for our rural development concept through forests restoration.
How will this project solve this problem?
Based on permaculture methods, we combine various trees, endemic and fast-growing species to recreate ecological conditions for sustainable agriculture, and the restoration of primary forests indispensable to the preservation of biodiversity.
Potential Long Term Impact
With this sustainable reforestation program, rural community in Manabolo will be able to support themselves and improve their lives by planting valuable trees without the temptation to cut down the forest.
