Village Based Water Committee and Sustainability

Village Based Water Committee and Sustainability
Tayakome's H2O and sanitation committee is trained in building, system maintenance, and water quality and safety. A portable microbiology lab is used to test for harmful "unseen" bacteria in the water supply. Accurate E-coli results were given in 24 hours. The people have a bench mark to know "without doubt" if there water is safe. Full ownership of the project is turned over to the community after 3 years.

Flush Latrines and Eco- Friendly Septic System

Flush Latrines and Eco- Friendly Septic System
A bathroom structure with 4 flush latrines (separate sides for the boys and girls) at the village schoolhouse. Western seat toilets are not used because they are culturally not appropriate. The septic system discomposes waste naturally and then it becomes fertilizer.
