We did it! Fuels, Cookstoves and now Solar Lights

Dear Friend-

We did it!  Thanks to your generosity on Global Giving, you helped us raise $30,000, making it possible for us to transition the Rubaare Educational Foundation in Uganda to clean cookstoves and sustainable fuels!   Access to clean tech and green fuels means the school can now offer more scholarships to students, the staff is no longer exposed to toxic indoor air pollution, and trees are being saved across the region.

Although clean cooking solutions have been a boon to REF schools, the students and staff still need access to illumination for studying and working at night.

After much analysis, and in consultation with school director, Henry Twinemasiko, we’ve decided that investing in solar lighting is the environmentally friendly way to dramatically improve their education.

The success of our clean cookstove campaign has inspired us to launch a new Global Giving Project that will provide solar lighting to the REF schools.

You can support our new project by visiting our new project page and making a donation or sharing our link on Facebook or Twitter.

Today, Wednesday, February 12th is a Global Giving Matching Day so make the most of your support by contributing today.

Thanks so much for your continued support!
