Ragamuffin provides Arts Therapy for children and families in crisis to recover from psychological trauma. Training in Arts Therapy and supervision builds Cambodia's mental health service.
The need for this project is based on the evidence of extensive and endemic mental health problems faced by Cambodians as a result of years of conflict and violent trauma. The result is a heavily traumatised generation as seen in the high levels of poverty, child trafficking, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, addictions and violent crime.
The Ragamuffin Project has created a Healing Sanctuary in the heart of Phnom Penh where we provide Creative Arts Therapy to traumatised individuals and families along with professional training & clinical supervision for therapists and caregivers
We will provide a service delivered by Cambodian Creative Arts Therapists reaching up to 1200 children and adults annually, enabling them to reduce symptoms of distress and discover creative solutions to their problems and needs.
Creative Arts Therapy is needed so much in Cambodia. It works here, people understand it... and they're desperate - they are crying out, literally crying for help like this - the wounds go very deep.
