ALO 116 is a nation-wide free of charge counseling and referral service for children. We talk to children in some of their most difficult moments in life. We aim to protect them and their well-being by counseling and advising, referring and publicly defending their individual rights.We believe that children and young people have rights and they can identify their problems and ALO 116 makes possible child and youth participation. When a child calls we always listen.
Albania's development has not resulted in a development of a wide safety net for those who are most in need such as children, women or minorities. The discrepancies accompanied with a general lack of professional and effective social services makes the children and young people one of the most vulnerable groups. It lacks a coordinated response towards child / adolescent protection;many people fall out of the existing municipal social services, while in communes such service are non-existent.
ALO 116 fulfils one of the major gaps of social services in Albania, the "factory" where cases of children from all over the country are reported and from there they are referred. lthough the situation of children and young in Albania has improved,still many children and young people across the country face poverty and social exclusion. The economical development has not resulted in a development of a wide safety net for those who are most in need such as children, women or minorities.
Improve child protection system by supporting coordination efforts of agencies and NGO's working for children and young people across Albania. To protect the rights of at-risk children and those at risk and ensure they have access to a range of appropriate and quality prevention and protection services in the context of a broader protection system. The need to have a well-coordinated mechanism in place for referral. Always take into account the voice of the children.
