Summary
600 survivors of sex trafficking are being forced to relocate because of the construction of a new mall in Hyderabad. They have three months to buy land to build a new shelter.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
This August, 600 survivors of sex trafficking will be forced to relocate because of the construction of a new mall in Hyderabad. Funding is urgently needed to secure land to build a new shelter for the women.
Prajwala has located new land close to the city of Hyderabad that it can purchase so that the women in our shelter can commute to their jobs and continue their journey to financial independence. But the land for the new women’s shelter costs $75,000 and we need your help urgently.
How will this project solve this problem?
- Email a link to this page to your friends and family about this emergency.
- Tell people in your church/template/synagogue about building this new shelter.
- Organize a fundraiser in your community to help build a new home for the victims.
Potential Long Term Impact
The organization has successfully found 4 acres of land close to the city of Hyderabad, enabling these women to keep their jobs. A new shelter will be built there and will serve as a safe haven for the survivors who seldom find acceptance in society.
Project Message
No child or woman deserves to be subjected to slavery-like practices... Sex exploitation for any purpose is a gross violation of human rights and each one of us has a duty to fight it.
- Dr. Sunitha Krishnan, General Secretary
