This project will enable us to continue and/or reinstate the Y.O.G.A. for Youth program in Juvenile Detention Centers in and around the Los Angeles area, such as Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall, Camp Kilpatrick, and Camp Gonzales. The classes provided by Y.O.G.A. for Youth have been shown to support the management of health, wellness, grief, anxiety, stress, violence, and other symptoms associated with anger that prevent brilliant young minds from realizing their full potential.
Y.O.G.A. for Youth is committed to alleviating violence, vandalism, substance abuse, obesity, eating disorders, teen pregnancy, sexual assault, bullying, suicide, poor grades and other self defeating behaviors that are prevalent among today's youth.
Our curriculum addresses major components associated with diminishing fear, the root cause of anger, and increasing a belief in one's own greatness. We provide youth with tools for self-discovery that foster hope, discipline and respect for self, others and community.
Y.O.G.A. for Youth has been teaching yoga techniques and principles to kids for over sixteen years. In that time, the organization has served over eighteen thousand youth, supporting the management of health, wellness, grief, anxiety, stress, violence, and other symptoms associated with anger that prevent brilliant young minds from realizing their full potential.
