Anna fled her abuser in Latvia with her son and daughter this month returning to the USA with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Anna will be living in shelter with her kids this Christmas. While many of us will be buying toys for their children, Anna doesn't even have money to buy decent clothing for her kids. Your funds will enable us to provide Anna and her children with winter coats, some warm clothing and basic needs to help make them more comfortable this Christmas.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Anna, like so many American women who flee home for safety, leave with nothing more than the clothes on their back. There is little chance of child support or alimony from the abuser in the foreign country. Anna must start her life over from scratch. The money raised will go to help Anna with basic clothing and shoes for her children for Christmas.
How will this project solve this problem?
Anna does not have the funds to buy coats, warm clothing and shoes for her children. She is in a climate that is cold in the winter. The funds will enable her to give her children the basic necessities for Christmas.
Potential Long Term Impact
Anna has been empowered to leave her abuser and flee back to the USA with her children. Now she must be able to provide for them. Anna is working on getting a job and re-establishing her life free of abuse with her children.
