As our supporters will know the parent project( special-initiative-for-girls-no-abuse-for-life) provides skills and supports for girls at risk working from our center for trafficked and missing children in Bihar India. Our request is a simple one, we would like to be able to offer places to project girls at at our existing sewing center for women. We have the room and staff. But we need seven extra sewing machines. $250 is enough for a machine and cloth for a year! Please help these girls
Street Children especially girls are exceptionally vulnerable.Clearly these girls need to learn a skill to enable them to survive without falling prey to pimps and being used for prostitution. Staff at our Center already works with the police raiding local brothels and making sure that no children under 18 years of age are being exploited but it is not enough. We need to offer a skill where these girls can earn a decent living and we need to support them during and after the program.
We will be able to include sewing skills in the vocational training on offer and give an opportunity for these girls along with positive social interaction in a supportive environment. Confidence Building and a really useful practical skill are other benefits. And its fun too!
Every step taken to protect children helps foster an environment of more awareness of the plight of street children especially girls. Working with the community is important and may encourage other right minded employers or educational institutions to offer training. This has the potential to reach out to hundreds of girls..
