Send Nolky to School for a Year

A microproject by International Disaster Volunteers (IDV)
Send Nolky to School for a Year

Summary

This project will provide a full year of education for 10 year old Nolky. Nolky is one of eight children. His mom died in the earthquake, and his father was left unable to care for the family and he was forced to give his three youngest to the orphanage. Nolky is one of the orphanage's most responsible kids, and he hardly ever fights with his brothers and sisters! With your help, we'll be able to provide him with the education he needs to build a secure future.

Challenge

As an orphan, Nolky is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There are no free schools in Port au Prince available, so the orphanage must employ its own teachers and run its own school. Lack of education locks kids like Nolky into a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only helps Nolky, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.

Solution

Nolky has lived his whole life in poverty. He needs a quality education to find a prosperous future. Your donations will give him that education and set him on the road to a brighter tomorrow.

Long-Term Impact

Access to education will give Nolky the skills he needs to find a stable job and escape poverty when he's older.
