Sonia's life was turned upside down by the earthquake. Her mother was killed, and although she and her father survived, they lost everything they had. Since then, Sonia's dad hasn't been able to find work, so he hasn't been able to pay Sonia's school fees. Sonia's education is funded through the end of 2014, but there are so many children whose stories are just like Sonia's and who aren't in school. Your donations will help us provide an education for more kids like Sonia.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
School in Haiti is not free, and if a family cannot pay, their children simply do not attend. Lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
How will this project solve this problem?
Kids like Sonia have lived their whole lives in poverty. Your donation will give a child like Sonia the education she needs to ensure she can support herself and find a route of to security. We'll use your donation to pay for the school fees, provide books, school supplies, and extra support when needed.
Potential Long Term Impact
Access to education for children from families who do not have the means to send their children to school means that those children will have the skills they need to find stable jobs and escape the poverty of their families.
