Creating the Mariposa internship program will provide our Mariposas with potential mentors, employment opportunities and ideas for future careers!
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In a community where few people graduate from 8th grade, let alone high school, many of our Mariposas do not personally know role models in the professional fields that they are interested in pursuing. The Mariposa Internship program will partner some of our older Mariposa girls with local business owners and professionals. The girls will be introduced to professionals who correlate with their own interests.
How will this project solve this problem?
Funds raised for the Mariposa Internship program will cover transportation costs, as well as appropriate business attire for the Mariposa interns. This particular project will not only allow the girls to see how achievable their goals are, it will also introduce them to lifelong mentors.
Potential Long Term Impact
Investing in the education, health and empowerment of a girl today means that she will have the tools to make smart choices that will better the lives of her children in the future. Internships and exposure to different types of career and educational options, open doors our Mariposas may have not otherwise knew existed.
This project has been retired and is no longer accepting donations.
Every microproject is intended to use the donations it receives in accordance with its stated description; however, it is important to provide project leaders with the flexibility to maximize the potential benefit from the donations they receive. This means that your donation may be used as a part of the main project that supports this microproject, specifically Unleash the Leader in a Girl. In this event, the project leader is required to post an update to the microproject detailing the results and reasons behind this change.
If you or any other donor is unhappy with the way their funds have been used, he or she can reallocate their donation using the GlobalGiving guarantee.
