Makaranta was plagued with failing infrastructure that has left homes and entire blocks without access to electricity. Constant repairs must be made by electricians and Muhammed able created his own electrical shop to bring power back to his village and his family by creating the communities first electrical repair shop that serviced only his village but a 20 mile radius giving these areas in many cases for the first time light. Now help him expand his program to new areas in Bauchi!!!
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
This project will solve the problem of deteriorating electrical wires by creating a non-government based service to villages that will not only repair broken infrastructure problems for a small fee but will create new ones in areas that will allow the village and surrounding villages to grow once more. This project will create another electrical shop and train new employees to work within Bauchi Nigeria!
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will solve the problem by creating a self-sustaining system for electrical repair and electrical growth in the community and will stop citizens from being dependent on government offices for these services. Instead of waiting for over worked government employees, citizens will now be able to use the local repair shop to bring electricity to their homes and businesses changing the way hundreds of people live and giving them opportunities to learn and grow the shops in new ways.
Potential Long Term Impact
Develop independent profit-generating businesses that serve as models for growth in surrounding communities. Project beneficiaries fill voids in the local economy while improving their families' health, education and financial stability. Previous leaders have sent their brothers, sisters and children to school, helped invest in new businesses within the community, offered new services to community members such as the disabled, establishing infrastructure for the future growth of Nigeria.
