This project will provide a year of English Education for Osnard. 40-year-old Osnard has never been able to find steady work because he lacked an education. EIM is changing that. "I've always had to share a little money with lots of people. Soon, I will make my own living!". You can help Osnard learn the skills he needs to find a job and earn his own money by donating to keep him in school!
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Osnard, cannot afford to attend fee-paying schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
How will this project solve this problem?
By ensuring that Osnard can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help him develop the skills he needs to find gainful employment.
Potential Long Term Impact
Your donations will give Osnard the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
