Justin currently has a seizure-response dog in training with him. So far, "Ironhide" has provided Justin's family with peace of mind knowing there is always an extra set of eyes on him. Justin has also become more verbal since receiving his service dog. There is still a large bill to pay which is why The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is helping with a grant. This project will help us fund his grant.
Ironhide, when fully trained, will allow Justin and his family to function more normally as a family. So far, this has relieved stress and allowed his parents to not be fully-focused on Justin 100% of the time, allowing time for the rest of the family.
Justin's Mother reports that she is now able to focus on her other children. She is becoming more confident that when she is not there watching his every move, his companion is. Ironhide has already been a blessing to this family - imagine the possibilities when fully trained.
This particular project will provide seizure-response dogs for people living with epilepsy, greatly increasing their chances of surviving life-threatening episodes that may arise. This project will also raise awareness about SUDEP to encourage further support of individuals living with epilepsy, their families, and their communities.
