Thank you for your incredible support to Special Olympics Oregon during our Holiday Campaign. Your gift is greatly valued and helps us fuel the hopes, needs, and aspirations of over 12,000 Special Olympics participants in Oregon!
Our winter season is now in full swing, with our Winter Outdoor Snow Sports competition happenng this Weekend, March 13-15 in Bend, Oregon! Winter Games Snow Sports are held annually at Mt. Bachelor where participants from the entire state compete in one of four sports – alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. All participants have trained in their hometowns and local mountains for eight or more weeks prior to these competitions. Without your support, we would not be able to provide these incredible opportunities to our athletes.
Another way in which your donations have helped us further our mission is by helping us spread awareness and respect through our Respect Campaign. March is Disability Awareness Month and March 4th was the annual Respect Day. People from all over pledged to show respect to everyone and stop the use of the "R-word". Special Olympics Oregon's Respect Campaign educates society about the derogatory effects of hurtful language and urges everyone to celebrate the unique abilities and talents of every individual.
As our winter season ends and summer approaches, we will continue serving the largest disability population in Oregon by offering quality sports competition and training to our growing constituency. You can be confident in knowing that your help has made a difference!
