This year U&I is participating at the World 10K Run in Bangalore on the 19th May 2013. We would like to use this event as an opportunity to raise funds for the 500 underprivileged children that U&I educates and also for the care and rehabilitation of 86 mentally challenged orphans We appeal to you to donate generously to this cause and help us provide a live changing advantage to our amazing children.
For hundreds of underprivileged children in India, finding a job that pays well is close to impossible as they lack the skills required. English and Computer skills can increase their employability substantially. Also hundreds of mentally challenged children are abandoned by their family and left in state care for the rest of their life. Though the state provides basic food & shelter, the boys lack the needed special education & skills necessary to live an independent & self sufficient life.
U&I provides high quality non-formal & special education to slum children and special needs children. Slum children learn English & Computers which enables them to apply for better paying jobs. The Advanced Job Skills Course equips young people with industry specific skills needed to get a job. For the mentally challenged boys at the state home, medical care/ treatment, occupational therapy & vocational training enables them to live a self sufficient & independent lives.
A) The training our students receive in English, Computers & Job Skills enables them to get jobs where they can make enough to support their families.Well paid jobs break the cycle of poverty and enables them to provide a better life for their children. B) For the mentally challenged boys, occupational therapy and vocational training enables them to live a more independent, healthy and self sufficient life. It also gives them the opportunity to have a steady source of income.
