Thanks to your donations and our ability to collect funds from other sources we were able to come up with the full amount. A week-long trip for seven children and one instructor went great. Our travelers were able to visit several of the most beautiful cities in central Russia.
The children planned-out the trip, purchased tickets and chose the excursions all by themselves, but with the assistance of their group leader. Such trips for the orphaned children who live in the restricted access orphanages are very useful: they expand the kids’ horizons, have educational value and serve as a tool for social adaptation.
At the orphanages such cultural and educational programs are mandatory and are directed by the school administrators.
Having a freedom of choice and being able to cooperate and partner-up with the teacher allows the students to learn how to plan their own travels, how to work with maps, orient themselves in new places, prepare the necessary documents, make reservations, use discounts, save money and budget their future expenses.
A personal testimony from a student Valery N.
"..We’ve ascended the bell tower of St. Boris and St. Gleb Monastery. There were 134 steps in all. I liked the view from above. I’ll repeat myself, but I felt like it was paradise. The air was fresh and the entire city was in the palm of your hand. The steps were not too bad, a bit steep, but quite humane and reminded me of the steps of a well-constructed dacha – a place where you are always welcomed. As we went up the stairs, I sensed that the banister had a faint smell of wood. I felt the presence of God in each sacred corner. Also I went through the Bird of Happiness and made a wish. I hope it will come to pass."
We thank you for your financial support and your interest in our project.
Our sincere gratitude to each and every one of you. We can do more together!
