Summary
14 year old Lovely was born to a mentally ill, poor mother. They never had a house, and she never got to attend school. After the earthquake, her mother's illness became worse, and friends removed Lovely from her mother's care and brought her to the Orphanage. It took Lovely her more than a year to settle into the orphanage, but now she's thriving. Lovely is in special classes to help her learn to read, write, and catch up with her classmates. With your help, her future will be bright.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Children like Lovely are very vulnerable in Haiti. There isn't a social safety-net in place to care for them. If it hadn't been for the orphanage, she would probably have wound up living on the streets. But the orphanage can only care for her because donors like you chose to give.
How will this project solve this problem?
Lovely is a healthy, bright young woman. With your help, we'll be able to keep giving her the nutritious food, safe home, and health care she needs to keep thriving!
Potential Long Term Impact
Moving kids like Lovely into a secure home gives them a real chance to grow into tomorrow's leaders.
