Mission

Founded in 1996, the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger strives to build a community where all people have the food they need to lead healthy lives. The Coalition connects people with food assistance programs and nutrition education; provides resources to a network of food pantries; and educates the public and policymakers about responsible solutions that prevent people from going hungry.

Programs

The Coalition operates three programs: 1) The Hunger Fighters Network supports nearly 200 food pantries and soup kitchens, providing them with funding, equipment, training and other tools. 2) The Food Stamp (SNAP) Campaign helps eligible residents of Philadelphia, Bucks and Chester counties apply for SNAP, assisting over 7,000 residents every year through the SNAP Hotline. 3) The Policy Center applies the data gained on the front lines to advocate for federal and state policies to reduce and prevent hunger in our communities.
