The project will provide education and self help initiatives to women age 18 and above, who had left school because of social, cultural and economic reasons.
In Africa majority of the poor are women and they experience vulnerability and powerlessness to a much higher degree than men, the situation is even worse in rural communities, where women's rights are violated by cultural practices, equitable access to education and the autonomy to receive and produce the information relevant to their concerns and perspectives are therefore critical issues for them. .
The project will provide education and self help initiatives to women of age 18 and above, who because of cultural, economic and social reasons dropped out of school and could not pursue their dreams. The main activities during this project will involve the following:reading and writing, capacity building in leadership and entrepreneurship through training in income generating activities
Women will engage in income generating activities and that will provide income for them, their families and the community so as to sustain the education of the girl child, hence reduce poverty. This project will increase women power by being economically independent, women participation in decision making, the number of women in positions of responsibility, women's awareness to their basic rights, and enhance awareness of local community about gender related issue
