Vocational Training for 1,000 Women in Pakistan

MDF provides young women and mothers with training to learn entrepreneurial skill. specific trades, and access to markets to launch successful businesses, send their children to school, and lift their families out of poverty.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

According to the UN, 74% of Pakistan's 180 million people live on less than $2 a day, and over 8 million of the 20 million school-age children are not in primary school. Impoverished youth are extremely vulnerable to recruitment into extremist organizations like the Taliban. Now more than ever mothers need access to education, training and economic opportunities. Enabling this will result in increased access, choice, and prioritizing education for their children--fostering dignity and security.

How will this project solve this problem?

We provide women with the necessary training, equipment, materials, and market linkages in order to support themselves and their families. When women and girls earn income, they reinvest 90% of it into their families and communities. Watch video

Potential Long Term Impact

The initial pilot project has empowered over 200 women to develop tools necessary to launch successful businesses, generate income, send their children to school, & lift their families and communities out of poverty, enriching their quality of life and security. We now seek to reach 1,000 women in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
