Update Report - September 2023

By Tom | Trustee

Dear Friends

It's always a pleasure to update our supporters, however this time we'll let the Project Coordinators from Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp do the talking. This is what they had to say in their latest report regarding the computer classes which you help make happen:

'We teach children from Monday to Friday. The children gain some skills how to use computer such as typing, Microsoft Words, Power Points and Word Excel. In addition, they have learned basic Adobe Photoshop and Video Editing.

1. What have you been teaching from 2022 - 2023 to now?
I have been teaching basic Microsoft Office Words, Power Points and Word Excel. After the completion of teaching Word Documents I taught Adobe Photoshop and Video Editing. In typing I taught them how type in English, Thai and Shan.

2. How do you manage the different skills of students?
I managed the class by following grade. Students from grade 2 to grade 8 will have to rotate class by class.

3. Do students enjoy studying in the class? Why/Why not?
All students love and enjoying computer class most as they can listen to music play video game and searching photos.

4. What are the obstacles of teaching in the class? What materials do you need?
The obstacle that we facing now is sometimes there is no electricity and the computer is out of date so we sometimes need to stop when our computers are broken. To run our computer class regularly, laptops are better to run as it has battery charged. To solve the problem, we are still searching to donors to help us to install laptops instead of desktops. We hope that using laptops, we could run our computer class more regularly'.

We plan to visit them and the rest of the community in December when we travel to Thailand, and will be sure to keep you updated in all the latest developments.

Once again, many thanks for your loyal support.
