Dear Kind Supporter,
This month another 100 deserving students will receive solar lamps! We are in the process of identifying these students from schools on two of the remotest islands in the project area. Teams of students who have received solar lamps and subsequently the Green Rhinos youth nature leadership training are conducting nature conservation activities in their villages.
“A solar lamp changed my life! I secured high marks in my board examinations and received a scholarship of $420 from the State Education Department”, says Shampa Sahoo excitedly. She lives in the remote Binodpur village in the Sunderbans where the Solar Lamps Project is being conducted. With a solar lamp she is able to study for long hours by a steady light. Before receiving the solar lamp she would be able to study for a limited time as kerosene is expensive to buy for her family. The quality of light was poor and her eyes would burn.
More than 1700 young people have bettered their lives with your support. Help us to reach out to many, many more needy and deserving students. As part of the team do spread the word about the project.
June 25, 2014 is a Bonus Day when all donations will be matched 100%!! Mark your calendar!
With gratitude,
Diti
