The SeaAid Caribbean project addresses basic human needs by creating and implementing low-cost appropriate technology projects such as water filters, composting toilets, and solar ovens.
Located in some of the most beautiful and remote areas on earth, small coastal communities in the developing world are often hindered by poverty and a lack of access to the basic essentials of life such as clean drinking water and proper sanitation. In fact, the World Health Organization has stated that simply providing clean drinking water and sanitation to those who now lack it would do more to improve the human condition than any other intervention--including curing cancer and AIDS!
The three main areas that SeaAid projects focus on are clean drinking water, sanitation, and alternative cooking technologies. We teach the project community how to build, use, and maintain these technologies and then monitor the project over time.
SeaAid focuses on coastal communities with less than 1,000 residents/200 households and annual income less than $2,000 per family. This project provides simple but highly beneficial technologies that help improve long-term community well-being.
