20 rural families in Honduras will inhale 70% less smoke by cooking, and will have permanent access to safe water, leading to less deforestation, to sustainable water management and less diseases.
Water and smoke related diseases and deforestation are major problems in rural areas in Honduras. Access to safe piped water is not common, and traditional stoves or “fogones” are widely used, which have high level emissions of smoke. More ecological and healthier options to these services are possible, but they are also more expensive and beyond the financial capacity of the poorest families in Honduras. Hence, families will overcome a strong obstacle through this project.
The ecological stove will cut smoke emission by 70%, and a 30% for wood use.The rain water harvesting system will grant full acces to purified water all year round.Donations will overcome lack of financial resources of families to build these systems
Families will enjoy better health in respect to water and smoke related diseases, and local capacity will be in place to replicate the ecological systems for provision of water and cooking. 160 family members will be benefited form this action.
