Challenge

In the marginalized communities where we operate from there is an increase in the number of child headed households as a results of both parents passing on after succumbing to HIV/AIDS.The most affected are the children who have to look after their siblings as well as finance for their education. Our project will assist in easing the burden of the child house headers as well as give these children the opportunity to go back to school as they drop out at an early age due to financial constraints.

Solution

The project will assist children in sustaining their households as well as giving them the opportunity to go back to school to further their education.Funds permitting it is our wish to engage these vulnerable groups into Income Generating Activities(IGAs). These will ensure long term household sustainability of the vulnerable groups.Engaging them in projects will also eliminate dependency syndrome whilst eradicating poverty in the process.

Long-Term Impact

The long term effect of the project is mainly an empowered generation of young people not only in life skills but academically as well. There will be an increase in the literacy levels of the target beneficiaries. This will not be an individual benefit but communities will also benefit from this project.Poverty levels will also drop in these marginalized communities as young people will now be able to fend for themselves. The project will impact the lives of 300 children.
