Proven insecticide-treated nets save lives by protecting them from mosquito bites and the killer disease of malaria. Project also provides preventive anti-malaria tablets to Sierra Leoneans. The nets are useful particularly for protecting vulnerable children who are less resistant to the malaria. Additionally, when people fall sick, there is considerable lost time and loss of productivity for all members of the family. By providing a net, you are helping to support economic development.
Malaria is still a killer disease in Sierra Leone and claims the lives of many thousands yearly. Malaria can be prevented by limiting exposure to mosquitoes. The provision and use of insecticide-treated nets significantly reduces the chances of contracting malaria. Many homes do not have these nets and Develop Africa is working with local partners to ensure that this simple, inexpensive and life-changing protection is provided to all.
Beneficiaries will be provided with long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets and anti-malaria preventive medication / tablets. This dual protection will effectively protect from the scourge of malaria. No malaria means no lost time from sickness - at school, work and business. This indirectly affects economic development.
This will eliminate lost productivity and save beneficiaries from unnecessary sickness, possible hospitalization and even death. This project has a tremendous short-term and long-term impact.
Thank you for providing this net. I am happy as now I can stay healthy and not get sick. No more missed school days because of malaria!
