Contribute to generate healthier cities through the promotion of sustainable environmental management systems. HC is building a community-based solid waste management system, which aims to improve sanitary/health conditions in the poor and congested suburbs. Through the implementation of a public educational program, and in coordination with the public garbage and trash removal services, HC’s initiative is organized around a network of employment - and income - generating micro enterprises.
Healthy City has developed a four-phase strategy: an inter-community based waste management system (community-organized and effectively linked collection, recycling and disposal activities and related initiatives). HC’s objectives are: to control illegal dumping, to eliminate illegal dump sites, to effectively coordinate with key public agencies, to implement an educational campaign, and to mobilize the required resources from a broad array of sources.
