It was a terrific summer for Himalayan HealthCare (HHC) and GlobeMed's partnership. Because GlobeMed operates on the schedule of the University of Colorado, students are now back and passionate as ever for GlobeMed and its projects with HHC. Overall in 2011-2012, GlobeMed finished with nearly $30,000 fundraised for HHC and its programs, $4,500 coming from Global Giving, and a total of $7,000 going to empowerment of women. We offer our sincere thanks to all who have assisted in our cause.
Moving forward, we look to continue our partnership with HHC and the empowerment programs. Our fundraising efforts will support this same program. Multiple Kami women are already benefitting from the 30 goats that resulted from this project's fundraising efforts. Each family received 4 goats. Two of the goats can be sold immediately to provide a savings account for the family. The savings can be used for a child's school, more goats, or investment in land that will provide sustainance for the family. The two remaining goats can be utilized for the consumption and selling of milk and production of cheese, among other purposes. This project is only a miniscule of the work that HHC commits to the people in these areas.
