Moldova is a small country that only begins to adapt advanced oncological protocols. Many cancer drugs used in these protocols are not produced locally and need to be imported from other countries. Our project will bring life-saving medicines to Moldovan children with cancer.
Most of Moldovan children receive treatment at the state-run clinics. These clinics, however, face bigger challenges and experience deeper shortages in medicines inventory due to budget constraints. Too often, parents of sick children are forced to look for medicines on their own which, in many cases, is extremely expensive or beyond the reach.
We aim to fill the gap in medicines supply. NGO Save Life has partnered with the National Institute of Oncology in Moldovan capital of Chisinau, to facilitate purchases of specialized cancer drugs. Specific to this project, we are planning to order 130 vials of an essential medicine used in leukemia treatment. If we are successful, we will roll this project over and convert to a long-term program.
Our project is targeting systemic problems of state-run medical facilities. We are attempting to create a long-term alternative, rather than seek for a temporary solution. About 30 children from different parts of Moldova receive treatment at the Children Hematology Department on a daily basis. Your support will give them chance of a recovery and faster reintegration to their communities.
