Hot Sun Foundation has been training youth in Kibera in film skills for several years. One of our goals is to become partners with film schools and training centers throughout the world. Now we have an opportunity for one of our filmmaker/ trainers from Kibera, to go to the Ghetto Film School in the Bronx, New York for two months' training in July, August 2011.
A community and industry panel chose Josphat Keya, who is also the current program coordinator for Hot Sun Foundation. Josphat will use this opportunity, one unprecedented and one-of-a-kind happening for a
resident of Kibera to go to New York, to increase his own skills and bring back new energy and ideas to help train other youth. Kibera Film School is based on the philosophy of youth training youth, with support from industry professionals.
This is a dream come true for Josphat and a big boost for Kibera youth, Kibera Film School and Hot Sun Foundation.
We need your support to help make it happen. We also welcome suggestions for other partnerships and exchanges with filmmakers and film schools throughout the world.
Wednesday 15 June is Global Giving Matching Day. All donations on that day will be matched by 30%. Mark it on your calendars.
Any day you choose to support young filmmakers in Kibera will be welcome. Josphat will send a postcard to each of you who contribute $25 or more.
Remember 15 June Wed is Global Giving Matching Day.
Thanks for all you do!
