There are many widows in Uganda living with HIV /AIDS especially in rural areas with a huge burden of orphans, no food security, poor shelter, and no scholastic material resulting into high drop out rates especially in girls. With support of this project there will be reduced school drop out, improved shelter, reduced malnutrition in households, reduced stigma among people with HIV/AIDS and reduction in further spread of the pandemic.
HIV/AIDS is the main challenge the community is facing and school going children, grand parents and widows are most affected in terms of lack of scholastic materials, Poor shelter, lack of food, poor health, stigma,discrimination, lack of psychological support. The main problem is how to support affected mothers or widows who support the orphans who have been left to them. The main beneficiaries in this project will majorly be 200 orphans and 100 HIV /AIDS positive mothers.
The project will provide scholastic materials to 200 school going children, build shelter to 100 HIV/AIDS positive mothers, provide crops seeds of maize, beans soy beans, groundnut to 100 households, purchase 300 mosquito nets, support 100 HIV /AIDS positive mothers with start up income for them to start small business to sustain their life, it will also train positive mothers in modern agricultural practices, it will further train the mothers in saving and credit through group formation.
There will be reduced stigma among HIV/AIDS infected and affected persons,Reduced malnutrition among children and adults reduced school drop out especially by the girl child, increased awareness on the need to live positively with HIV /AIDS within the communities, Improved live standard, encouragement to declare HIV /AIDS status which will reduce further spread. The community will develop culture to support people with HIV /AIDS this will bring hope to the affected and infected persons.
