It costs approximately $17,000 (USD) a month to purchase food from local markets for the over 140 orphaned chimpanzees. As Tchimpounga grows beyond capacity and our resources are stretched to the limit, we need all the help we can get in an economy with fluctuating exchange rates and raising food prices to ensure these fragile, orphaned infants get the second chance they deserve.
The chimpanzees at Tchimpounga sleep in spacious enclosures and have large areas of secured forest to roam by day. By exploring natural habitat together, they develop the social skills necessary for their well-being.
