Happy New Year, Nyaka friends and family! We hope you’re settling into 2013 with lots of joy and love. And we wanted to take a minute to thank YOU once again for all you did in 2012!
Last year was truly an amazing year of growth and development for the Nyaka students, grannies and community members. And it’s been a great pleasure to watch the lives of so many people move in a positive direction…all in thanks to YOU! All of our success and triumphs we owe to YOU, our dedicated and loyal supporters.
You generously gave $84,026.55 to the children and grannies of Nyaka this holiday season.
You went above and beyond our goal of $55,000 by $31,725.35! WOW!!
YOU did it!
That's right, we've got a lot to celebrate in 2013, so let's get dancing! Check out this short video created by our friends, Brenda and Toby--it's sure to get you moving! Click here to watch it now! Every time YOU donate, YOU enhance the life of students in the Nyaka community, much like those seen in the video above. THANK YOU for making 2012 wonderful for them all! Now that the New Year’s celebrations have abated, we’d like to invite you to take a moment to walk with us and our students throughout 2013. We value YOUR support and would like to share this journey with YOU. Connect with us on Facebook or Twitter for our most recent updates!
Or consider making a donation to Nyaka and help change the life of a student today!
Over the past six weeks, we've shared some of our most inspirational stories with you in our Story-A-Week storytelling series.
It has been a great honor for us to be able to tell you about all the wonderful things YOUR support has made possible for our community of students and grannies.
And we'd like to tell you one more time what a great year it's been for our Nyaka students-thanks to YOU! YOU lifted Allan up!
YOU gave Bruno a supportive learning and living community!
And YOU made the very first Kutamba graduation possible!
YOUR support matters to the Nyaka grannies and students and we thank YOU. But we've still got $2,000 to raise before year end so we can continue the wonderful work we've all been a part of-enriching the lives of the Nyaka grannies and students. YOU have made so much possible this year, and we know YOU can help us reach our year end goal!
Consider making a year-end donation for our Nyaka students today!
Season’s greetings, friends of Nyaka!
Last week was a very special time for our Nyaka and Kutamba Students, as well as our pioneer Secondary School students. We got to watch our Primary 7 and Secondary 4 students don their purple, green, and black caps and gowns for a graduation celebration!
That’s right—the students YOU’ve supported all along have just completed another year of school! This graduation is a truly monumental event in their lives, and it would not have been possible without YOU!
You have the opportunity today to re-invest in their lives in a deeply meaningful way.
From now until the end of the year, GlobalGiving is matching all recurring donations by 100%! And there’s still $22,000 available in matching funds! That's a lot to share!
Let's celebrate this opportunity and all we've accomplished together this year through a gift that will count twice as much!
You know what's even better? GlobalGiving is making it easy to give a gift in honor of your friends and family. It only takes a few seconds, and you can print off a holiday card with your donation here!
One of our Nyaka volunteers, Amber Davis Collins, made it to Uganda just in time for the ceremony! She made a lovely short video for all of our supporters--that's YOU! Click here to watch the video now.
YOU made all of this possible! And we feel so lucky to have your support.

As always, we thank YOU and value YOUR support.
Please consider a recurring donation of $10 or more today.
The holidays are finally here!
And in honor of this Thanksgiving, the Nyaka team is celebrating by giving thanks to YOU.
We’ve had an amazing year, and it would not have been possible without all of your generous support.
Through your help, we’ve been able to serve thousands of grannies by providing vocational training, and improving their standard of living with smokeless kitchens and sanitary latrines.
Through your help, we’ve been able to provided hundreds of students with free, quality education in facilities conducive to fun learning opportunities.
And through your help, our Executive Director and Founder of The Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project, Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, was named a CNN Hero! Wow!
It’s been an incredible year, and we wouldn’t have done it without YOU!
But that’s not all…
Now you can watch and see what your support has helped us do in Uganda!
Meet Brenda Phillips, a talented documentary filmmaker and Nyaka volunteer, who traveled to Uganda in March 2012. While at Nyaka, she broke ground on a documentary capturing the stories of the grannies and students of The Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project.
We want to invite you to take a few minutes to see what Brenda’s been up to. Click here to experience her beautiful footage, and see for yourself the changes being made in Nyaka through YOUR support.
Want to see your support go even farther? Then get ready for #GivingTuesday!
GlobalGiving has partnered with Microsoft to celebrate #GivingTuesday for a full day of matching donations! On Tuesday November 27th, for every dollar a donor gives to a micro-project on GiveforYouth.org, Microsoft will donate another dollar. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $200 donation. There are $100,000 in matching funds available.
Check out our Facebook and follow our Twitter while we encourage everyone to take part in #GivingTuesday!
You are a gift to the children of Nyaka and Kutamba.
You believe that every child has the right to a quality education.
You don't just believe, you act.
Thank you so very much!
You have gone out of your way to provide 584 students with a FREE quality education.
On October 17th, starting at midnight, you can do 30% more with your generosity.
But first, your project report!
If you were to walk through the doorway of the P.4 class at Kutamba Primary School every student would shoot up from their desk and welcome you with a smile.
Watch a thirty second video of their welcome by clicking here.
"You are welcome, our visitors."
They would declare,
"Discipline first. Academics second."
They would answer the question,
with a hearty, "No!"
Your students come to school every day because you keep the doors open, the meals coming and the water clean. You believe in them and therefore, they believe in themselves because you have made them a priority year after year.
Are you curious about what the students have been studying? Click here to take a peek into the classroom by reading progress reports from the teachers. You are making sure that these students have these incredible opportunities.
Next year, as sixty students move up to secondary school, we will accept sixty more students into preschool!
So today, celebrate your personal fight against poverty by doing three things.
Your actions today will continue your legacy of generosity in the lives of these future leaders.
