While we are closing the donation option for Educational Opportunities for Yi Girls, the school will continue to operate and we are proud of the project's many successes.
As a result of this program, 18 workshops have been held for 501 Yi girls in Project GLOW. 215 women have completed the basic skill-building training and continue in the vocational training. 216 have completed the PATH life skills training and 85 have completed the basic skill-building training and vocational training.
When the Yi girls leave the program, 91% have better life skills, 95% have better Chinese language abilities, 31% have better mathematical abilities, and all have better Yi language abilities. Among the Yi girls who have participated in the training, 217 find their jobs thanks to LYFE.
Project GLOW has established a peer education network for young Yi people in the Yi community and implemented peer education activities in evenings through peer educators. When the evaluation panel interviews the peer educators and young Yi people, the panel finds the network has played a positive role in changing the life of young Yi people in the community.
