Chikumbuso Women and Orphans Project looks for better solutions in helping our 23 grandmothers and preserving the Zambian Forest through fuel efficient stoves.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Chikumbuso Women and Orphans Project looks for better solutions in helping our grandmothers. Every month we reach out to 23 courageous women who care for their grandchildren left to them after their own children died. In a hope to lighten their load grandmothers are visited by a caregiver and given a 25 kg. bag of mealiemeal, oil, candles, soap, salt and charcoal.
How will this project solve this problem?
We would like to eliminate this environmentally unfriendly way of cooking by giving each of our 23 grandmothers a fuel efficient rocket stove, these stoves are encouraged by the Zambian National Forest Agency.
Potential Long Term Impact
When grandmothers receive the stoves they will be able to cook with just a handful of kindling that they can find around the compound. These stoves will also double as heaters in the house during the winter months. Keep Zambian forests alive!
