Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Food insecurity is a big problem for most Zimbabweans, but it affects orphans even more. In the near past, the current government did not allow the import or distribution of food to Zimbabweans, while at the same time curtailing the provision of fertilizers for many years, effectively ruining crops and the supply of food. 400 orphan families will benefit from this project.

Activities

Each orphan family will receive nutritious food, giving them strength to be trained so they can engage in a viable sustainable livelihood activity - growing food and raising animals to replace food distribution with sustainable livelihood.

4 containers on way to Zimbabwe!

We are so happy to report that 4 new containers of fortified porridge are on their way to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, as part of ZOE's Livelihood's Program. This food is so valuable to the orphan families, as it gives them the nutrition and full bellies they need while they care for their goats and chickens. With reports from the field letting us know that the program has been a good success, we are looking forward to our visit to the program in July, 2010. We'll be sure to take many photos and post them here for you to see what your donations are doing for people who are on their way to being self-sustaining.
