This report comes in the month that Chab Dai turns 18! What an incredible journey over the last 18 years it's been! With many challenges overcome and lessons learned along the way, we’ve nevertheless achieved a very real positive impact and collected many stories of changed lives.
Across our Survivor Restoration themaitc are under our Case Management Support Project, we have assisted over 1500 survivors with legal support and community based client care, after exploitation and abuse such as labour trafficking, sex trafficking, rape, prostitution, and forced marriage.
Each case intervened in, was a person given back their life, a family reunited, and a community healed.
Furthermore, under our System Strengthening thematic area, we have trained 494 Cambodian police officers to aid their work in responding to these crimes and in recognising and assisting victims. This includes successful efforts to bring more female police officers into assisting with these cases.
One piece of work we often find the most inspiring is our Community Hero Prevention Project. These are individuals who have been trained and volunteer in their own communities to undertake awareness talks in vulnerable communities. These Heroes have been the reason for so many of the stories we hear of people who were able to prevent members of their communities from being trafficked, enslaved, exploited or abused because of what they heard from our Heroes. Your support helps us to support our Heroes in their work.
Over the past 18 years 439 Community Heroes have been trained to help and 70 006 people have been reached with awareness through the project
While it’s often difficult to see progress when in the midst of hard work, having these fantastic numbers to reflect upon is always encouraging, to see what the work has brought about. Changing the world is hard, it takes one dedicated, often slow step at a time, but eventually when you look back you can see how far you’ve come.
We hope you can likewise feel a part of this long journey we’ve been on, and can also see how far we’ve come.
Having also recently published our Impact Report for 2023, some of the numbers from the past year reveal our ongoing successes which we are incredibly proud of, and which you can also be:
