AHD has conducted risk assessment exercise in 10 villages of four UCs located the riverbank. The assessment reports are being finalized and the potential activities are also being identified on mitigation, prevention and preparedness in these communities. The methodology included hazard mapping, vulnerability and capacity assessment, household vulnerability survey, and risk analysis of the all the communities. The separate village reports are being prepared to value each individual household and village in the forthcoming Disaster Risk Reduction project.
In June 2011 AHD started Community Restoration Project for UC Manaha to be implemented in 15 sub villages (basis). The project will train 510 women and men to be trained in 6 different vocational skills to be able to earn their respectable livelihood. The project will also support 100 poorest of the poor successful candidates with initial toolkit support to start their work/enterprises at household level. The project will also identify 50 people who want to start their small scale businesses and will train these 50 people to get training on marketing, business management and exposure visits will also be conducted for learning. The project will also support these 50 beneficiaries with initial business set support in kind. The project will also link these people to get micro finance to upgrade their business from regular micro finance institutions.
