Project Report | Jan 2, 2024
Education Matters

By Amanda McConnell | Executive Director, Ouelessebougou Alliance

As we step into the dawn of 2024, we are overjoyed to recount the myriad successes and transformative moments that unfolded in Mali throughout the past year, all made possible by your invaluable support. The tapestry of our accomplishments in 2023 is vibrant and rich with the colors of education and empowerment.

In the heart of 12 partner villages, your generosity acted as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path to education for approximately 2,100 students. A notable achievement was the balance we achieved, with nearly 49% of these eager minds being female. Welcoming close to 400 new students into our educational embrace was not just a numerical feat but a testament to the expanding ripple of positive change we collectively set in motion.

Our commitment to nurturing the seeds of knowledge extended beyond students to the dedicated educators shaping young minds. In 2023, we orchestrated impactful training sessions for 24 teachers, enhancing their skills and equipping them with the tools to inspire the next generation.

A particularly shining facet of our endeavors was the Days for Girls training initiative, where we empowered 303 women and girls. This initiative, with your steadfast support, became a beacon of empowerment, fostering self-reliance and resilience in the face of challenges.

As we gaze into the horizon of 2024, our vision encompasses the construction of a new school in the village of Djemene. This ambitious project is not merely about bricks and mortar; it symbolizes a sanctuary where the pursuit of knowledge can flourish without the hindrance of nature's adversities. This new chapter holds the promise of providing a stable and conducive environment for countless children to receive a consistent and quality education.

Your unwavering dedication to our mission resonates deeply, and we are profoundly grateful for your continued support. Together, we are sowing the seeds of change, cultivating a future where education is a beacon of hope, and the pursuit of knowledge knows no bounds.
