The Children of Ethiopia Education Fund (COEEF) exists to empower young girls in Ethiopia, from impoverished circumstances, with a quality, private education through direct student sponsorship.
In sub-Saharan Africa, families are more likely to educate a son rather than a daughter, less than 1 in 5 girls make it to secondary school and nearly half of these girls are married by the time they are 18. The leading cause of death for girls between the ages of 15 and 19 is not from accidents, violence, or disease, but from complications that result after becoming pregnant at an early age. Education can change these statistics for girls in Ethiopia, breaking cycles of poverty and abuse.
COEEF partners with existing private schools in Ethiopia to give students the best education within their area. By sponsoring a girl you provide supplies, books, uniforms, and tuition, empowering her with the opportunity to gain an invaluable education that lasts a lifetime.
This project will provide 20 new girls with the opportunity to receive a quality, private education in Ethiopia. Providing them with the tools they need to become role models and leaders in their families, communities, and country. When you educate a child, you educate a nation.
