To provide farming as a livelihood to local community in 24 Parganas South district through provision of infrastructure, financial and technical assistance, creating employment and income generation.
Agriculture in 24 Parganas South district is fundamentally a three-month rice based mono crop. Thus, vast resources such as labour, land and ponds lie unutilized the rest of the year. If the farming style was to be shifted from mono cropping to multi cropping, farmers could be engaged in farming throughout the year, leading to more resource mobilization and increase in productivity and income of the poor people.
Introduction of sunflower and vegetables as a second crop, setting of the infrastructure, training, and cultivation. Setting of a processing division, storage, transport and marketing of products.
Cultivation of 200 acres the first year, 500 acres for second year and 1000 acres the third. Creation of 30,000 jobs in man days the first year, 75,000 the second and 150,000 the third. Income generation of 300,000 US$ along three years.
