Mission

The mission of LA's BEST is to provide a safe and supervised after school education, enrichment and recreation program for elementary school children ages 5 to 12 in the City of Los Angeles.

Programs

The LA’s BEST model uses a multi-pronged approach to foster a love of learning and inquiry among at-risk youth in Los Angeles to maximize not only their academic achievement, but also their social, emotional, and physical development. Program activities include but are not limited to After School Arts Program (ASAP), BEST Fit, Celebrate Science, KidzLit and KidzMath, Sports, Field Trips and Citywide Events.

Personnel Overview

Harold Haizlip - After School Arts Program Director
Haizlip is the founding Director of the After School Arts Program at LA’s BEST. Prior to LA’s BEST, he previously founded and directed the Children Art Collaborative for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Haizlip received his B.A. from Amherst College and M.A. and E.d.D from Harvard University.
