Children suffering from skin diseases and psoriasis fail to achieve their dreams due to Discrimination, Stigmatization, Hopelessness and Pain. Africa Psoriasis Organization facilitates free health camps to help these children access proper diagnosis and treatment and disseminate skin diseases and psoriasis education in schools.
With chronic shortage of trained skin care specialists in rural areas and slums in Kenya, access to proper treatment and care of patients with skin diseases and psoriasis among poor families is difficult. Lack of proper diagnosis and delayed treatment has lead to hopelessness. Affected Children keep changing schools and eventually drop out due to stigmatization, discrimination and ridicule by fellow pupils.
1.Free all skin diseases health camps in schools by qualified dermatologists will accord sick pupils access to proper diagnosis and medication. 2. Skin diseases and psoriasis education will be provided to all the pupils, teachers and parents to increase understanding. 3. Pupils diagnosed with psoriasis will be enrolled to the APSO Patient Assistance Program for ongoing care through further disease self management education and treatment.
1. Improved quality of life and restored hope to affected children. 2. Reduced stigmatization due to increased knowledge about psoriasis and other skin diseases among pupils, teachers, parents and the general public. 3. Improved school completion rate and performance among children suffering from chronic skin diseases.
