More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Bullying, sexual harassment and aggressive behaviour mostly by boys directed at girls in schools rarely attracts sanctions and these become accepted as a normal part of growing up. 75% of school girls suffered sexual harassment from male classmates and 27% endure pressure from teachers for sex. It is imperative to address gender-based violence to make schools safe places and achieve universal primary education for all. Primary beneficiaries will be pupils who are victims of school-related abuses

Training for school counselors, student sensitization activities, counseling and education, essay writing competitions, presentations, inter-school activities and sports, school clubs, video shows, library resources.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Counseling and support for survivors will be available in our schools; school children will no longer drop out due to lack of support. School attitudes will change on abuse issues and retention of girls in schools will improve.

Project Message

Thank you WISE for the education. Ignorance would have caused a huge number of girls in our community to fall victims of Sexual and Gender Based Violence- My daughter could have been one
