Share & SaveMore Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe few trained plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in developing countries face an overwhelming demand for their services. They often cannot treat the many patients who are too poor to afford medical care. They also lack the resources and infrastructure for advanced medical training. They cannot access medical libraries or journals, nor do they have the interaction with trained colleagues that is a key part of medical education in the United States. ActivitiesEach workshop includes lectures, discussions, and hands-on training focusing on various topics such as hand surgery, burns, and anesthesia. In one week, participants in the workshops absorb skills they can use immediately to help poor patients. Latest Update from the FieldInterplast trains 100 Vietnamese physiciansBy Devon Watts - Assoc. Director, Foundation & Corporate Relations, August 09, 2007 05:04 PM
In April 2007, Dr. George Gregory traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to lead a one-week training workshop for 100 Vietnamese physicians and nurses. Dr. Gregory, a renowned pediatric anesthesiologist at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, used both lectures and hands-on teaching methods to pass on his specialized anesthesia skills to the group. The participants in this workshop will be able to put their new knowledge to use immediately - thus improving the standard of care for pediatric anesthesia in Vietnam. Comment on this update
