$5000 covers the costs of 200 rescues. The average cost of a rescue (including sterilization and vaccination) is $50. allows us to continue our mission is to end the human/street dog conflict by creating a humane and sustainable environment for animals with direct benefits to the people of Dharamsala, India.
We provide several key programs to achieve our goals: spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, rescue and adoption, and community education for rabies safety and compassion. DAR has been running since 2009. Since that time, we have helped more than 22,000 animals. Since the beginning, we've seen change. More people are feeding and caring for strays. More people getting post-bite vaccinations for dog bites. More people adopting local dogs. This project will help this change continue
Our vision: We strive to create a community where the people realize that the stray animal population can be managed with compassion and education. With mass sterilization and rabies vaccination programs we can create a healthy sustainable population of dogs. Through education and community interaction, we can teach people how to be kind to street dogs even they are afraid of them, eradicate rabies, and increase adoptions.
