Background:
Raksha Nepal has been actively working for women and children for the past 10 years. This organization supports those girls, women and their children who have been through different types of violence (sexual abuse, domestic violence, trafficking, polygamy victim, etc.) or who are vulnerable to violence. It also works in favor of the victims to raise their voice to the concerned institutions and help them get justice.
In the same context, since last 5 years, Raksha has established a Child Transit Home for those vulnerable children who have gone through negligence, orphans, sexually abused and other violations. The main objective to keep them in this transit home is to prevent them from following the wrong path and enjoy the basic rights like other normal children. Moreover, these children also get opportunity to make their life better. Raksha Nepal has been trying its best to give a safe and family environment to these vulnerable children, with limited funding source. RN with personal contributions has extended different kinds of support to more than 2500 children so far. Currently, it has 30 children in its transit home. RN has been coordinating with different organizations for their secure future.

Activities in Details:
As per school policy, it charges admission fee for all 28 children, only the monthly fee is discounted for those who get scholarship (out of 28 children admitted, 8 children received monthly fee exemption) but they are liable to pay admission, examination, computer, library, stationery fees, etc. to school.
Children Made a Histry in South Korea: 7 children are selected for the international taekwondo competition in South Korea. RN since past 2 years has established Raksha Taekwondo Dojang under which all those living in its home are receiving regular Taekwondo training. In a short span of time, these children have successfully demonstrated best performance at the different local and district level competitions. As a result, 7 best performers have been selected to participate in the 8th World Taekwondo Cultural Expo. Competition, Muju, South Korea, from July 4-7, 2014. In this week long program, these children will be competing in various tournaments.
We can easily presume how this international level competition exposure has inspired the lives of these children who have been the victims of different violence - some have lost their parents and their loved one at a tender age and been through indescribable hurt. Through these sports they have demonstrated their personality in front of all the players at the international level competition by proudly waving Nepali flag. The proudest part of this competition has borne its fruits in the form of gold, silver and bronze medals by these children. This has been achieved and has created a history in the Nepali Taekwondo sports.
